Chikubu-Kai generally has about eleven clinics per year. These clinics, usually 4 hours long, are a chance for Kai members to come together and train with our different Dojos under the direct supervision of Price Soke.
Our clinics are unique in a number of different ways. Firstly, at most of our clinics, all ranks train together on the same material. This is in keeping with Price Soke's philosophy that there is no such thing as an "advanced" technique (an "advanced" technique is just a well-executed basic technique).
Secondly, most of our clinics are taught directly by Price Soke, which is fairly unusual. In many organizations, the head instructor only teaches a select few, and the newest students have to contend with a high-ranked colored belt, or a Shodan black belt. What an exciting opportunity for new Kai members, to be able to see the art in action by the Soke himself!
Thirdly, our clinics are very inexpensive, generally about $35. It is not unusual for someone of Price Soke's rank to command fees of more than $200 per person for training of the caliber we offer. In our area recently, a two-hour clinic on "Advanced Kicking Techniques" was priced at $45 per person.
Finally, our clinics are rooted in Price Soke's deep desire to pass on the knowledge he learned from Soke Kuniba. Often, things are taught at clinics that haven't been seen in the Kai for years, if ever. It is a truism that if you miss one clinic, you miss a lot.
